In the french post, you will see the first snapshot of the dictionary dashboard where terms are set in the languages used by theme.
xili-dictionary use all the features (especially alias_of and term_group) and functions of taxonomy.php. Some bugs are discovered and two tickets are open in WP tracs : #5230 and #5240. Voici une première version de l’écran de réglage des langues utilisées
The deal of the set development :
– use the standard tables (no new tables added),
– use the functions of the WordPress core (only add short specific function),
– shortest script for fastest performance,
– no new cookie or new javascript,– few modifications in theme (only to detect current language of webpage or post or list of posts),
– online transformation (style, text) of the theme according of rules associated to the language of posts,– full separation between the language of current wp (admin part) and content parts (post, page, theme).

La réalisation d’un plugin pour WordPress nécessite de suivre des règles précises :
– utiliser au maximum les fonctions et spécifications des sources directement ou via des entrées spéciales (hook),
– avoir le code le plus court possible afin de ne pas ralentir les performances,
– éviter de modifier la structure de la base,
et pour ce set « language » :
– être indépendant des cookies, javascript mais suivre la navigation de chaque utilisateur selon sa langue,
– modifier le moins possible le thème en y ajoutant quelques functions spécifiques pour :– identifier la langue courante de l’article,
– modifier les menus etc en fonction de la langue de l’article lu (sauf règles contraires),
– influer sur les styles selon la langue,– bien séparer la gestion linguistique de l’administration ou du language de base du site et celles des articles.

The xili-language set is developped to test the new taxonomy data organization introduced in the latest release 2.3 of wordpress. The tests introduce languages management of posts and themes.
This new data specifications is based on new tables (taxonomy, terms and relationships). The oldest categories et link-categories use now these tables and the new post_tag system also.
In the test, a new taxonomy is introduced : language.The content of the set :
– a plugin.
